"Our office invited Elina Viola to head up a pilates class in January, 2014.
Not having ever participated in a pilates class, and eager to try something new, I signed up.
Every Friday for the last 4 months Elina has run her pilates class for a group of us. The smaller core muscles, the ones you never knew you had, are getting a great work out. I'm a runner and my running has improved immensely due to the improvement in my posture, which she emphasizes just about every class! Elina has given me some tips on form when I run and they are working great. No more back pain after I run.
Elina is wonderful at giving individual attention to all the participants as we aren't all at the same level. It's vey comfortable in the class knowing you are learning something new every time and getting stronger.

My name is Ron Jarrett; I am 55 years old and have been a personal trainer for 25 years. I am strong and fit or so I thought until I started working with Elina! You see I have done combative sports, powerlifting, strongman competitions, and tons of other sports as well. Sure I had heard of Pilates and had dismissed it as something for the ladies and people rehabbing injuries… Big mistake!
As time has progressed injuries and imbalances have accumulated to the point that they were impacting some of the activities I really enjoy. Being in the fitness industry my ability to move well is a requirement of my profession not to mention the play I want to engage in with my kids (I took up skateboarding last year, and have recently learned to ride my unicycle).
A friend and I had been experiencing some of the same changes and decided this would be a really good time to do something intelligent with our training, things like fixing our imbalances, rehabbing some old injuries and improving our mobility. It was a good time to re-create a solid platform for movement in the second half of our life. Suddenly Pilates didn’t seem like such a strange idea!
I have known Elina for about five years through mutual contacts and some other work that we do, so I approached her about working together and she agreed. We’ve been working together since November 2019 doing two sessions per week.
That’s where the fun really begins!
Elina should probably be called “The Destroyer” because first she destroyed my illusions of strength, flexibility, stability and mobility. Then my so-called “strong “core evaporated! Those first months were so humbling! Elina made it look so easy even graceful! I’m sure she must’ve died laughing at “the big strong man”! I was Frankenstein at the ballet, completely hilarious and awkward!
To her credit Elina has been so patient and encouraging!
Her excellent demonstrations and queueing have made it possible to find the deeper activation and connection that make Pilates so effective! With time and consistency I have seen real improvement in so many areas not just in Pilates movements. Movements in training (I’m stronger without lifting), my balance is better and more responsive, my back and hips are secure and pain-free, I have a legitimately strong core. I think I move with more grace and certainly with better alignment! If I was to sum up all of my experience with Elina and Pilates I would have to say that Pilates has been the one thing that has made everything better!
For the person considering Pilates for the first time or the experienced practitioner you owe it to your body, mind and health to experience the exceptional process Elina Viola offers! Thank you Elina for setting me up for the best years of my life!
